Dion Browne Nominated for One Young World Summit

Dion Browne of St. Kitts is one of five OECS social entrepreneurs that have been nominated for participation at the One Young World Summit 2019.

Browne was nominated for his Boys Mentorship Programme initiative in the area of Poverty Alleviation.

He said though he was surprised to have found out that he was nominated for the summit, he was humbled to be given the opportunity.

He explained the Boys Mentorship Program which is currently launched in two high schools in the federation.

When asked what inspires him to be a youth activist, Browne said he always felt the need to help persons and grew up giving assistance to persons in the community.

The One Young World Summit seeks to encourage peer to peer learning, mentorship by leading figures in various sectors who pursue social reform and change; and provide the opportunity for global networking among young social leaders.

The summit will be held in London, United Kingdom, from 22 – 25 October 2019.

Dion Browne also received the esteemed Queen’s Young Leaders Award for 2017, and was recognized by the Prince of Wales on his visit to St. Kitts on March 22nd. The Queen’s Award recognizes and celebrates exceptional young people aged 18-29 from across the Commonwealth, who organize activities to benefit their community and transform the lives of others.
