Diplomatic Workshop Will Reap More Benefits for St. Kitts-Nevis

WandaConnor-1(ZIZ News)– First Secretary to the High Commission of St. Kitts-Nevis in London, Wanda Connor, said the recently held three-day Diplomatic Training Seminar symbolized a link that will help the nation find alliances to meet its development goals and strengthen its voice in the international arena.

Connor was among guests who spoke during the most recent edition of ZIZ’s The Round Table.

She used the opportunity to comment on the significance of the workshop.

“I think that speaks to where we are going as a country and it speaks to where we have come from because we are now positioned to really embrace what new diplomacy can bring to our shores here in St. Kitts and Nevis and I think that at this stage, our model diplomacy is more about how we can form new relationships,” she stated.

Connor said St. Kitts-Nevis is already beginning to reap benefits from existing relationships with other countries and governments, particularly between the government of St. Kitts-Nevis and governments of Taiwan and Cuba.

She said, “I believe it is important for us to engage new opportunities and initiatives as a small state that would give us a competitive edge and it moves us beyond sun, sea and sand, that tourism focus to embracing other opportunities that are out there and we see already evidence of it with our Citizenship by Investment Programme that is being modelled by several other countries around the world and I believe that within that there is scope for immense development in St. Kitts and Nevis and opportunities for young people to advance.”
