Double digit increases in passenger arrivals, aircraft movements at Bradshaw Airport

Basseterre, St. Kitts (CUOPM) – The St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) is reporting double digit increases in passenger arrivals and departures and aircraft movement at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts for the month of December of 2013 compared to the same period in 2012.

Figures from SCASPA’s Department of Finance & Statistics indicate that 13,205 passengers arrived in December 2013 compared to 10,322 passengers, an increase of 2,883 passengers, up 28 percent.

The department is also reporting an 11 percent increase in departures, with 12,072 passengers leaving in December last year compared to 10, 916 passengers in December of 2012.

American Airlines, which operates 11 flights per week from Miami International and New York’s JFK International, continues to be the leading passenger carrier into St. Kitts’ Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.

SCASPA disclosed that American Airlines brought in 6,787 passengers on 56 incoming flights in December 2013.

LIAT – the Caribbean airline – brought in 3,654 passengers; British Airways, 870 passengers; Delta Airlines, 538 passengers; U.S. Airways, 408 passengers; Air Canada, 279 passengers; WINAIR, 241 passengers and Trans Anguilla, 133 passengers, while 148 passengers arrived onboard private aircraft.

SCASPA also reports a 16 percent increase in flights arriving and a 15 percent in flights departing the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.

While there was a 29 percent increase in cargo imported through the airport, SCASPA reported a 59 percent drop in outgoing cargo.
