(ZIZ News) — The sister isle of Nevis was the topic of discussion for part of Wednesday’s Budget Debate by the Member of Parliament for constituency seven, the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris.
Despite the obvious appreciation for the nation’s leader, The Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, by Nevisians, Dr. Harris and Team Unity claim that Nevisians are not being treated fairly by the Federal Government.
He said, if elected, a Team Unity Administration would do more for Nevis and its people.
“It’s time. It’s time. It’s time Mr. Speaker and we will work cooperatively with the Nevis Island Administration to bring a better life to all of the people of Nevis because it’s time, Mr. Speaker. It’s Nevis time Mr. Speaker, and we will do that for the people of Nevis Mr. Speaker, and there is no precondition for doing the honourable thing,” Harris said.
A former Minister of Finance, Dr. Harris added that if elected, his Administration would financially support development projects in Nevis.
“We will financially support the commercialisation of the geothermal project in Nevis, clearing the way for jobs for Kittitians and Nevisians. Yes, we will give fullest support to ensure the development of a wide range of specialised skillsets…that is the potential of geothermal in Nevis. For want of adequate support, that project is denying opportunities for prosperity in our country. Yes, we will do better. We will realise the significant cost savings in energy matters in Nevis, not just in the Federation, but in all the neighbouring islands…the new distribution of geothermal energy brought on by a Nevis Island Administration,” he explained.
