Dr. Vance Gilbert is featured speaker at Sunday’s Requiem Mass to remember late Labour Movement Heroes

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MAY 23RD 2013 (CUOPM) – Cuban-trained physician Dr. Vance Gilbert is the keynote speaker at this year’s Requiem Mass commemorating the life of public service to the Federation by late leaders of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Movement.

Dr. Vance Gilbert will give the feature address during the service at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church on Sunday 26th May 2013.

In attendance will be Governor General, His Excellency Sir Edmund Lawrence, Acting Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin, Cabinet Ministers, the Diplomatic Corps, the Executive Officers and Members of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party and the St. Kitts-Nevis Trades and Labour Union, family members of the fallen leaders and a wide cross section of the local community.

The Annual Remembrance Service, which starts at 4:00 P.M., will give thanks and praise for the service of the early pioneers of the Labour Movement including Thomas Manchester and J. Matthew Sebastian and pay tribute to National Heroes, Their Right Excellencies, Sir Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw, Sir C. A. Paul Southwell and Sir Joseph N. France as well as His Excellency Sir Lee Llewellyn Moore and Messrs. E. St. John Payne and Mr. Fitzroy C. Bryant.

The Service will be conducted by Father Isaiah Phillip, who will give the Opening Prayer and Homily. The First Lesson will be read by Deputy Prime Minister Martin, the Second Lesson by Chairperson of the governing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party, the Hon. Marcella Liburd.

Presentations will be made Mr. Van’Dre A. Hodge, Shanice Esdaille and International Starlight and Judith Parris.

The Prayers of Intercession will be said by Vera Edwards-France.
