Dr. Vance Gilbert sponsors spelling bee competion

DrVanceGilbertAMansion, St. Kitts — Estridge Primary School held its first spelling bee competition on Friday, thanks to Dr Vance Gilbert who sponsored the event.

Dr. Vance Gilbert is contesting the seat held by Dr.Timothy Harris.

Red House won the highly contested Estridge Primary School’s inter-house competition held last Friday after scoring 370 points.

Blue House held the second position (250 points) while Green House became third (180) points.

Cadence Stanley was the winner in the senior spelling B category while the junior category’s winner was Ayazna Dolphin. The infant’s category was won by Elviquan Longley.

Speaking shortly after he presented trophies to winners, Dr. Gilbert told students to excel in their spelling and to stand out when they participate during their sports day scheduled to be held on March 1, 2013.

He further said: “It was a pleasure for me to be here this afternoon, to share with you and to be part of this exercise. I thank the principal and the teachers for allowing me to be part of this competition. Let me congratulate all of the students who participated. I think they did an excellent job. Let me also congratulate the teachers. I really want to congratulate the teachers for a job well done.”

“I want to wish you all the best. Sports are coming up and I will be at your sports day. I want to congratulate all the houses. Let us give a shout for green house and a big shout for blue house. And all the red people let me hear you. ,” he said amidst applause.

The school’s Principal, Ms Phillip-Dolphin thanked Dr Gilbert for sponsoring the spelling bee competition: “The children were eager to do their first ever spelling Bee. The spelling Bee is a pre-sports event. The points gained will be added to sports day scores.”
