Sports Page — Kareem Walters smoked his way to victory and in the process forced Gavin Clarke’s “King of Calle” into second place in the Outlaw class, as the Nevis Drag Racing Unit hosted its annual Independence race meet.

The meet was held on Sunday 21st September at the St.James’ Raceway.

A sizeable crowd showed up for the event and the race fans were enthralled by the number of grudge matches for the day’s event.

The lone female, Annelise Leibbrandt of Nevis was in super form as she copped the first place in the 13 seconds category.

Raynaldo Chiverton of Nevis edged out Mark De Silva of Antigua to capture first place honours in the Open Class.

However, all eyes focused on the matchup between Gavin Clarke and Kareem Walters in the Outlaw class.

In the end, it was Kareem Walters who took first place honours.

CJ Bartlette of the Nevis Drag Racing Unit deemed the event a huge success, despite several hurdles that had to be overcome leading up to race day.
