Basseterre, St. Kitts (RSCNPF) — The seizure of 124 pounds of Marijuana by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force on Thursday (October 1st) is a positive indication that the local Marijuana Eradication Operations conducted by the Police and the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force are yielding results.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Criminal Investigations, Mr. Ian Queeley, “our efforts against the cultivation of marijuana are yielding results. This drug seizure is a clear indication that we have taken a ready supply off the streets, we have interrupted the flow, and the dealers have to look elsewhere.”
ACP Queeley added, “Our operation on Thursday shows that we will do whatever we have to do to in the fight against crime. This operation was a combination of vigilance, training and intelligence. The Police Force today (Friday, October 2nd), defended the people of St. Kitts and Nevis against the flow of drugs and possibly guns…and we…. celebrate our officers for protecting the sanctity of our borders.”
The seizure on Thursday was valued at EC $930,000.
Three (3) individuals are currently in custody and are assisting with the investigation.
