Early Childhood Development Unit launched Child Month celebrations with an opening ceremony and church service

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 3, 2019 (ZIZ News): The 35th Anniversary of Child Month celebrations kicked off with an Opening Ceremony and Church Service on Saturday June 1 2019 at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium.

While delivering remarks, Minister OF Education, Hon. Shawn Richards said after 35 years, the nation should be proud of the progress made in Early Childhood Development and consider this year’s celebration a momentous occasion in Early Childhood history.

He said over the years, the unending work and dedication of Early Childhood educators and Directors has helped to shape the sector and commended all those who helped to contribute

Minister Richards then used the opportunity to extend congratulations to the Early Childhood Development Unit and proceeded to officially declare the Child Month celebrations open.

Activities to mark the 35th Anniversary of Child Month celebrations will continue with a Cocktail and Dance for Workers on Saturday June 8, Children of Early Childhood Centre Appearances on ZIZ every Saturday until June 29, Literacy with Love Day on Wednesday 5 June, a Football festival on Friday June 14, Cultural Food Fair at Independence Square on Friday June 21, Early Childhood Staff Queen Pageant on Saturday June 22 and the Grande parade and T-shirt day on Friday June 28.

The 35th Annual Child Month celebrations are being held under the theme, “Celebrating our progress as a nation”.
