East Basseterre Residents Give Back To Community With Back To School Fair

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 27, 2020 (ZIZ News):Parents and children of the East Basseterre community were treated to a back to school fair at Newtown Paddock on Wednesday.

The fair was the brainchild of Attorney at Law, Natasha “Shanny” Grey who decided to host the event to assist the parents and students of the community who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Scores of people were seen lining up to collect their free school supplies after they were treated to games, face painting, bouncing castles, food and drink.

During the fair 2 boxes of school supplies were donated to the Tucker Clarke Primary School on behalf of St. Kitts and Nevis Resident Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Thelma Phillip-Brown which was received by Minister of Education, Hon. Jonel Powell.

Minister Powell thanked both the Ambassador and Grey for their contribution to communities in the federation.

“It is always good when our citizens whether they be home or abroad are able to give back to the communities and so on behalf of the Tucker Clarke Primary school and the government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis I want to say thank you Ambassador for your generous donation, Shanny to you as well you have put on a nice little spread here, a back to school event for the kids here in the Newtown area. Thank you for doing this as a member of the community. We really appreciate when members of our community come together and do things for the less fortunate in particular.”

The fair was rescheduled from Saturday August 22nd to Wednesday August 26th due to the passage of Tropical Storm Laura.
