(ZIZ)– On Tuesday, Edris Lewis, the woman who designed the Federation’s national flag, presented scholarships to primary school children from around the island.
This is the ninth consecutive year that Lewis has made such a donation.
ZIZ News was on hand at the Tucker-Clarke Primary School to witness this year’s presentation ceremony where four students of the Irish Town and Tucker-Clarke Primary Schools and eight students from various other schools received scholarships.
“I come home every year around this time and I give kids supplies that are needed for the first year of high school. The students are chosen by the principals and teachers of the school,” she said.
Among the school supplies presented to the students were backpacks, exercise books and stationery.
