Eight teens to vie for Miss Labour 2011/2012

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 19TH 2011 (CUOPM) – Eight beautiful teenagers will vie for the coveted title of Miss Labour 2011/2012 when the annual Miss Labour Queen Show is staged on April 30th.

Show Organiser Mr. Vincent Fough said the girls representing each of the eight constituencies on St. Kitts, will make four appearances – promotional speech, creative wear, performing talent and evening wear, following the opening fanfare.

The contestants are 19-year-old Performing Arts Teacher at the Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Davina Doras-Cranstoun, representing Constituency One (East Basseterre); 18-year-old Gillards Gas Station attendant, Nakita James, representing Constituency 2 (Central Basseterre); 15-year-old Washington Archibald High School student, Crystal Boyles, representing Constituency #3 (West Basseterre); 16-year-old Verchilds High School student, Zaiesha Joseph, representing Constituency #4.

Constituency #5 (Sandy Point/Fig Tree) is represented by 17-year-old Chares E. Mills Secondary School student, Jackiema Flemming; Constituency # 6 (Newton Ground/Harris’) is being represented by Vekeich Connor, a 14-year-old student at the Charles E. Mills Secondary School; 16-year-old Sheniqua Cannonier, a student at the Cayon High School is representing Constituency # 7 (Ottley’s Lodge/Belle Vue) and Constituency # 8 (Ottley’s/St. Peter’s) is represented by 19-year-old Zarema Pemberton, a student at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC).

Mr. Fough said that a sideshow is being planned at which the main band will be The Grand Masters.

The contestants will be guests of honour at a cocktail party hosted by Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and a motorcade through the streets of Basseterre on Friday 20th April.

The Labour Day March is planned for Monday 2nd May and the Annual Labour Party Conference on May 15th.
