Enjoy this week the Black San’ way!

SANDY POINT, St. Kitts and Nevis (April 20, 2011): This is the week of the holidays; students are off from school and Easter preparations are steadily progressing. In Sandy Point, it is the week everyone has been looking forward to for a long time, and you too can be part of the community’s sensational Black San’ celebrations!!

Black San’ Bang-a-Lang, has been much-talked-about in recent times as the last few weeks saw the staging of some of the most extraordinary and exciting events in the history of community festivals! And this week’s gospel concert and bike-a-thon are the precursor events to an even more action-packed weekend.

Thursday’s (April 21, 2011) Silver Lining Gospel Concert, slated for the Old Project Road at Cleverly Hill is set to be a sure seat-filler! The event will set us all in the spirit of Easter and is appropriately named to highlight the spiritual side of the festivities. Come out and start off the Easter the right way, the Black San’ way, and enjoy singing, dancing and instrumentals from well-known artistes from around the Federation. Witness as artistes hit the stage and bless the audience with inspirational and uplifting renditions. Like all other Black San’ events, there is a surprising twist, but you’d have to be there to experience it! The event begins at 7:00 PM and is absolutely FREE!!!!!

On Good Friday (April 22, 2011), don’t just be a spectator! Beg, borrow, bring a bicycle and test yourself in the adrenaline challenge as the RAMs Endurance Bike-a-thon makes its way around the island. With free food and drinks for participants and a chance to win a slice of the EC$5000 cash prize, the island-wide race starts off at 10:00 AM in Romney Ground and will trail westward, ending at the festival’s Sandy Bank venue in Sandy Point.

All you need for this race is endurance (well, you will also need a bicycle with functional brakes) and official registration starts at 11:00 AM at Romney Ground and ends at 1:00 PM. Registration is only EC$10 for persons under 18 and EC$20 for persons 18 and over. All cyclists must wear proper headgear and enclosed shoes.

Tune in to ZIZ to hear live radio updates of where the cyclists are and keep track of who is leading and who is bringing up the rear! Be sure to line the streets in your area and cheer on the cyclers, or make your way to Sandy Bank to witness for yourself the winners of this endurance challenge.
