(ZIZ)—Members of the Soca Monarch Sub-committee for national carnival came together on Wednesday to decide who would be performing on the semifinals of the competition in December.
Committee member Kesha Archibald told ZIZ exactly what they were looking for.
“We were looking to ensure that the beats per minute were in sync with what was stated in the rules and that the song was original and that it was not necessarily entered into a competition that was previously organized by the national carnival committee.”
She says there is no set number for semi finalists so 46 songs have been chosen from 30 artists.
The Soca Monarch semi finals take place on December 6 at Sugar Mas village at the rear of the Old Treasury building on the bay road.
The show begins at 6 pm.
