Fahies Outreach Center Re-Opening

Minister of Agriculture the Hon. Alexis Jeffers and other agriculture officials gathered at Newton Ground for the re-opening of the Fahies Outreach Center at a ceremony on Tuesday.

The re-opening is part of activities being held by the ministry to commemorate World Food Day.

During his remarks, Minister Jeffers said the initial intent forFahies was to ensure that the land available was being used by farmers.

He said Fahies has played a major role in agriculture in St. Kitts and Nevis for the past 50 years, noting it was time to revive those efforts.

Fahies Extension Officer, Dion Weekes said he is anticipating a good planting season this year with the acquisition of seedlings that can be distributed to the farmers.

The twenty seven farmers who were approved for land leases at Fahies were invited to sign the lease agreement at the ceremony.
