Family Month Activities

Director of the Department of Social Services and Community Development, Azilla Clarke

ZIZ News…May 16, 2012 — Activities stretching from Mother’s day to Father’s day are expected to form National Family Month for 2012 and beyond.

That’s according to Director of the Department of Social Services and Community Development Azilla Clarke.

Ms. Clarke says they want to incorporate mothers, fathers and children in activities to commemorate the international day of families, May 15.

“The idea was brought forward to mark a month of activities that runs from Mother’s day including the International Day of Families, Child month in June and ending with the Father’s day celebration so that within that month every unit of the family will be celebrated.” she said.

The 2012 Family Month runs from May 13 to June 22. The theme is “Family Time Is Precious Time — Ensuring Work-Family Balance.”

Ms. Clarke encourages everyone to observe the theme.

“Make the time in your extremely busy schedules to spend time with your family however that is constructed for you. Spend time with people that make you feel grounded, happy and secure.” Ms. Clarke exclaimed.

The official family month calendar will be released shortly by the department.
