Financial Information Month to Promote Creativity

PMDouglasNationalAddress14Oct2009B(ZIZ News) — Across the region, the month of October is being celebrated as Financial Information Month.

The month, which is spearheaded by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank [ECCB], is being held under the theme “Soaring to Succeed” and is filled with interactive activities for schools and businesses alike.

In outlining the list of activities for the month, Prime Minister the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas said the activities will promote creativity in schools.

“Financial Information Month will tap into the creativity of our high school students by inviting them to produce short animated videos just under a minute long which they think capture the beauty and meaning of the theme song, ‘Soar to Succeed’. Again, the best video will be selected and then the best video in the Eastern Caribbean. With St. Kitts and Nevis making a developed push to develop the creative arts industry, this video competition will stimulate precisely the type of artistic and creative energies that we are determined to unleash among our young people,” Prime Minister Douglas stated.

He also took the opportunity to invite the public to participate in the scheduled activities as they will benefit everyone involved.

“I urge the public to seize this truly extraordinary opportunity. I remind you that the benefits are rare and would redound to the lasting benefits of both the individual involved and to this nation that we are blessed to call our home.”

Every year in October, the ECCB and partner institutions implement projects to educate communities about making good financial decisions.
