Fire service officer honoured at candle light ceremony

(ZIZ News) — The life of Fire Officer Javier Caines was honoured at a Candlelight ceremony held in Sandy Point on Thursday 17th March.

Family members, friends, and loved ones gathered to pay their respects at the ceremony.

Fire Service Officer, Garfield Hodge paid tribute to his colleague and friend noting that Caines left an impact on the lives of those at the fire department.

“I can speak on behalf of all of us who worked with Mr. Caines, all of us. He touched every one of us. There was never a dull moment with Percy. Never a dull moment”, he expressed.

Caines had been a member of the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services Department since March 1, 2008 and was attached to the Fire station at the Vance W. Amory International Airport at the time of his death.

The Fire Officer was shot and killed while travelling in a car through Sandy Point on Saturday March 5.
