First Calypso for the ZIZ Radio 50th anniversary competition released
ZIZ News…Dec. 11, 2010 – A calypsonian who has contributed to the art form over the years has come forward and released the first Calypso for the ZIZ Radio 50th anniversary celebrations.
Cpl Bergan who has been part of the St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force and goes by the calypso name of Navigator released the song entitled “ZIZ at 50” on Friday afternoon with Jazzy D as his contribution to the significant milestone of fifty years of existence for ZIZ Radio.
Both the Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. R A Peter Jenkins and the Acting General Manager Mr. Vere Galloway congratulated De Navigator for being the first calypsonian to release and also for his loyalty to ZIZ over the years. Mr. Galloway also congratulated Navigator for his lyrics which will undoubtedly be one of the big songs for the 50th anniversary celebrations.
Cpl Joseph Bergan was also presented with a ZIZ 50th anniversary bag containing a number of gifts all compliments the 50th anniversary committee.
A number of persons called in to the program to congratulate the Navigator and all those who assisted him along the way with his preparations.
Calypsonians are encouraged to register now for the ZIZ Calypso competition which carries a free registration. The deadline for registration is January 15, 2011 and the top prize for the competition is seven thousand five hundred EC dollars.
