Five of eight bills going to Parliament on Thursday to be debated

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MARCH 27, 2012 – Five of eight bills that go to the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly on Thursday are to be given their second reading and debated.

Five of the bills are in the name of the Right Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Denzil L. Douglas. They are The VAT (Amendment) Bill, 2012; The Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2012; The Vesting of Certain Properties Bill, 2012; The Pensions (Amendment) Bill, 2012 and The Police Complaints Bill, 2012.

The Metals (Amendment) Bill, 2012 stands in the name of Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade, Industry and Consumer Affairs, Agriculture, Marine Resources, Cooperative and Constituency Empowerment, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris.

Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett will introduce and have read a first time The Justice Protection Bill, 2012.

Minister of Health, Social Services, Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs, the Hon. Marcella Liburd will introduce and have read a first time The Child Abduction Convention Bill, 2012.

The five bills down for second reading and debate are The VAT (Amendment) Bill, 2012; The Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2012; The Vesting of Certain Properties Bill, 2012; The Metals (Amendment) 2012 and The Child Abduction Convention Bill, 2012.
