Former Premier Parry Calls for Leaders to Work in Best Interest of the Country

(ZIZ)– Former Premier of Nevis, The Honourable Joseph Parry is calling for the federation’s leaders to work in the best interest of St. Kitts-Nevis and not for their personal benefit.

Parry, a long serving politician, was at the time addressing listeners to Freedom Radio’s Good Morning St. Kitts-Nevis.

He said, “The little effort at people swiping across and pulling red herring and so on, that is not helping the country. It is time that all the politicians in this country seek basically to develop the country and don’t destroy the country in their efforts to get into power because in the end, when they would have done that, they would have lost considerable credibility and they would find it very difficult to move the country forward.”

The former Nevisian leader then said that several influential organisations and countries were looking at St. Kitts-Nevis and it was important that the behaviour of politicians do not hinder the country’s ability to receive overseas assistance.

“We need to demonstrate to the OECS and to the USA that we are serious about our jurisdiction. We want to keep our jurisdiction at a very high level of efficiency. We want to keep our jurisdiction clean and so we have to do everything that is necessary to maintain this,” Parry exlplained.
