Futsal Coming Soon

As the federation continues to expand its sporting catalogue, futsal is next in line to take the field, with the planning of a futsal field in Shadwell St. Kitts.

On Thursday, the Ministry Of Sport hosted a signage unveiling and walk-through of the proposed area. Hon. Jonel Powell, minister of sport was on hand, and explained that the project is as a result of discussions with the youth of the area.

The sport minister said he has already begun to engage the relevant bodies to receive technical assistance.

Minister Powell said it is his hope that the facility will engage youth positively as many are suffering from “covid fatigue”. He said he was happy fulfil a promise he made.

Minister Powell gave a report on the project’s progress and said he hopes to host a ground breaking ceremony in a few weeks.

Meanwhile, Charles Morton, Director Of Sport spoke to characteristics borne out of sports, stating his hope that futsal would help to build them as well.

Others in attendance were Valencia Syder, Permanent Secretary in the ministry of Sport, as well as workers from the Department of Sport.
