The staff at the Department of Community Development and Social Services received a total of 20 face masks, courtesy of a generous, local seamstress in the New Road area.
Owner of Lynette’s Sewing Center, Mrs. Lynette Bonaparte made the donation during a brief handing over ceremony at her residence on Monday morning.
She made the presentation to the Director in the Department of Community Development and Social Services, Mrs. Osslyn Ward-Harris who accepted the donation on behalf of the Department.
Lynette’s Sewing Center in New Road provides uniforms for all public schools in St. Kitts and Nevis. Lynette is also a uniform supplier for the Department of Social Services and as a result of this she said she “saw the need to donate the high quality, double layered, and reusable” masks ahead of the country’s border reopening on Saturday October 31 2020.
In an interview with ZIZ, she said, “I am always ready and willing to give to them because as you look around you see that things aren’t getting any easier and the donation helps to save a dollar or two that would have been spent on disposable masks”.
Mrs. Bonaparte said it is her hope that with these masks, the workers would be able to better protect themselves as they go out into the field.
