Government and People of St. Kitts and Nevis express solidarity with Taiwan in aftermath of 6.4 earthquake in Tainan

(SKNIS)—The Government and people of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis express solidarity with the Government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the aftermath of a 6.4 earthquake that left a trail of destruction in Tainan in the early morning of Saturday, February 6 about 3:57 am local time.

Tainan, a city in Southwestern Taiwan with a population of 1.8 million, suffered massive damage in the wake of the earthquake that toppled buildings, injured hundreds, left dozens missing and about 500 people socially displaced.

Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, said that his prayerful support and best wishes and that of St. Kitts and Nevis are with the Government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and specifically with the people of Tainan as they undertake recovery and rescue operations and try to rebuild as they grapple with this act of nature visited upon them.
