Government continues to Deliver for Civil Servants

PMDouglasNationalAddress14Oct2009A(ZIZ News) — The Government of St. Kitts-Nevis continues to deliver on promises made to the Nation’s people.

This month, a three percent salary increase for civil servants took effect. Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas said this is a major accomplishment for his government.

“This is in sharp contrast to the reality being faced by public servants in other countries where late salary payments, salary reductions and public service layoffs are unfortunately the norm,” he said.

Dr. Douglas reminded attendees to a recent press conference of the promise he made to civil servants in 2013.

“As you’re aware, the government provided a four percent salary increase to present and retired public servants back in 2014, over 2013 and has committed to provide a further three percent salary increase for public servants beyond the increase that would be provided this year,” he said.

The next increase takes effect in January 2016.
