Government Officials Visit Koi Resort Site

(ZIZ News) — Government officials say they are pleased with the progress being made on the ongoing Koi Resort Project and the benefits it will bring to the Nation, particularly to the employment sector.

On Monday afternoon, a high level group of government officials toured the construction site of Koi Resort at Half Moon Bay to get a progress update.

The group, led by Prime Minister the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris, toured blocks A and B of Phase 1, which would include nine villas.

Premier of Nevis, Hon. Vance Amory said he was excited about the project and the potential benefits in store for St Kitts and Nevis.

“The people of St. Kitts and Nevis will be very happy with the product when it is done. It’s going to be a really magnificent project. The location is fabulous and I look forward to the completion of this project,” he said.

Minister of Urban Development, the Hon. Ian Liburd said he was impressed with the work being done so far.

“I am impressed because of the quality of the product that will be rolled out here and I think it can do well for St. Kitts and Nevis. We are also happy that the employment, of course, will be satisfied. There are some 60 people on-site right now and when they get up to past foundation height there will be well over 100 workers here and that is good for the country,” he said.

Prime Minister Harris also said he was pleased with the employment opportunities for nationals.

“I am happy today that we are able to visit a site on which there are visible signs of people at work. Because critically, as we go through, the challenges of development, will be that the people find opportunities to better their condition of life. And as Minister, Patches made reference to the 60-plus persons who are on site today, we are hoping that as the project continues, more people will find adequate wages and salaries from engagement on this site,” he said.

Construction of the nine villas is expected to be completed by March.

When finished, Koi Resort will include commercial spaces, a casino, a spa, wedding chapel, and nightclub.
