Government seeks to diversify economy

(ZIZ)– Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas and his cabinet continue to find ways of diversifying the economy to further stimulate growth.

Speaking recently, the Federation’s Prime Minister revealed that while there is still much more work to be done, his government was seeking to diversify the economy through agriculture, manufacturing and information communication technology. He said however, that the country’s economy continues to do well.

“I think the economy has performed quite well. I believe that the manufacturing sector in particular continues to perform very very well. The tourism sector has continued to perform quite well,” he said then spoke of plans to develop the manufacturing sector.

The Prime Minister shared the view that manufacturing can be one of the country’s leading sectors.

“We want to make sure that there is support for the manufacturing sector as well. We want to develop the manufacturing sector to the point where the manufacturing sector can lead and support on the new thrusts that are being placed in the economy,” he said.
