Governor General engages in numerous activities

His Excellency The Governor-General Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton has been undertaking a number of engagements in St. Kitts and Nevis recently.

On Wednesday 25th May and Thursday 26th May, 2016 His Excellency accompanied by Mr. D. Michael Morton, J.P visited a number of tourism developments namely KOl, Imperial Bay, Park Hyatt and the Marina at Christophe Harbour. His Excellency was provided a very informative update by management personnel present at these projects and expressed his pleasure at the ongoing progress at all sites, as in at least two instances, they are already functional and impacting our tourism capacity.

On Thursday, 26th May, 2016 His Excellency attended a Book Launch by Ms Empress Stanley of her book entitled ‘An Insight Into Life’. Ms Stanley had earlier presented a copy to His Excellency and he had commended this young teacher on her collection of short stories.

Later that evening, His Excellency The Governor-General attended a Service of Thanksgiving at the Saddlers Pentecostal Church in celebration of the 100th Birthday of Mr. Edward Morton Bailey, a resident of Saddlers. His Excellency as Her Majesty The Queen’s Representative presented a Birthday Card to the Centenarian on behalf of The Queen.

On Saturday 28th May, His Excellency attended the Nevis Tourism Awards at the Four Seasons Hotel in Nevis, a ceremony also attended by the Hon. Vance Amory, Premier of Nevis and Mrs. Amory, Minister of Tourism, The Hon. Lindsay Grant and Mrs. Grant and Deputy Premier of Nevis and Minister of Tourism, Nevis The Hon. Mark Brantley and Mrs. Brantley.

On Sunday 29th May, the Antioch Baptist Church held a fundraiser on the Grounds of Government House under the patronage of the Governor-General. His Excellency later that evening attended a Band Launch by Inversion Band held at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Auditorium.

On Tuesday 31st May, His Excellency The Governor-General hosted 5 of our (8) Centenarians at Government House at a Reception to celebrate their milestones at the first of our annual Centenarians’ Day and presented each Centenarian with a commemorative mug displaying a photograph of Government House and Happy Centenarian Day wishes. Prime Minister The Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris and members of Cabinet also attended this special ceremony.
