Govt Promises Christena Memorial

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 6, 2020 (ZIZ News): Plans are underway for the establishment of a memorial to those who lost their lives in the Christena Disaster 50 years ago.

Prime Minister, Dr. The Hon. Timothy Harris made the pledge during the launching ceremony for the Christena Disaster exhibit at the National Museum on the weekend.

He said the new memorial should be in place before the next anniversary commemoration in 2021.

The prime minister went on to pledge $25,000.00 to the hosting of the 2021 Christena Disaster Exhibition by the National Trust and an even larger donation to support the National Trust and Museum.

The Christena Disaster Exhibit is on display at the National Museum Monday to Fridays until January 31 2021.
