Gratuity won’t strain manufacturers

(ZIZ)Minister of Labour, The Hon Patrice Nisbett has assured manufacturing executives at the industrial site that the newly legislated long service gratuity for workers will not put a strain on the businesses themselves.

WorkersAtIndustrialSiteADuring a site visit this past week he told company heads that the gratuity will be funded by the money allocated for severance payment.

“And so there is no need for any alarm,” he said.  “It is something that i believe is going to boost the morale and may even raise the level of productivity of those who are employed in this particular sector.”

He says this new initiative is a sign of a promising future for the local industrial relations climate and will not put any additional burden on the employers at the industrial site.
