ZIZ News…Nov 23 2011 – Education Officer for Preschool and primary school in Grenada Ms Bernadette John accompanied by three (3) preschool teachers Clanis Frame, Maria Charles and Yvonne Thomas are presently in St Kitts as guests of the Early Childhood Development Unit.
Early Childhood Coordinator Mrs Jacquelyn Morris disclosed that the team is on a study tour of early childhood centres in St Kitts to observe their preschool Programme.
They are especially interested in observing the High Scope curriculum used here and which has also been recently adopted in Grenada.
Before the teachers were attached to different centres the team first met with Mrs. Jacquelyn Morris and her staff and held discussions on the operations of early childhood centres in St Kitts and Nevis. They then made courtesy call on the Minister of Education, Nigel Carty and the Permanent Secretary Mrs Ionie Liburd Willett who officially welcomed them to St Kitts and Nevis.
Mrs Morris said that the study tour includes attachment at three EC centres, an island tour to visit other EC centres and subsequently, a meeting with the Coordinator and her staff during which time the team will provide feedback about their experience.
Mrs Morris expressed how pleased she is that St Kitts and Nevis could be of assistance to its regional counterparts in the development of their early childhood programmes.
The study tour which began on Monday 21 November will culminate on Wednesday 24.
