GSS Winners receive Grand Trophy

ZIZ News…Jan 17, 2013 — The Gingerland Secondary School students screamed in delight as Senior Sports Coordinator in the Department of Sports, Jamir Claxton presented the captain of the school’s senior Basketball team with a huge trophy.

The presentation was made on Wednesday 16th January at the school’s auditorium, during the assembly period.

Assisting with the presentation of the trophy was Basketball Coach at the Department of Sports, Jeffrey Lewis whose brain child it was to initiate the first ever Basketball tournament between the Charlestown and Gingerland Secondary Schools. The tournament was held late last year and was played at the Basketball court at Old Manor and the Grell Hull-Stevens Netball Complex.

The Charlestown Secondary School won the junior division of the competition and the Gingerland Secondary School won the senior division.

Ag. Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Lorna Brandy congratulated the students on their exemplary performance and noted that the handing over of the trophy was timely as the school prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary next week.
