Hazel: St. Kitts and Nevis has come a long way where Financial Services are concerned

HilaryHazelHeadshotA(ZIZ News) — Chairperson of the Financial Services Regulatory Commission, Hilary Hazel believes that St. Kitts-Nevis has come a long way where financial services are concerned.

Mrs. Hazel was one of the speakers to address the Anti-Money Laundering/Countering Financial Terrorism Seminar at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort on Tuesday.

Hazel, who is also the country’s Financial Secretary, said several plans were implemented to ensure the success of financial services.

“Various measures have been introduced to ensure the protection of the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis who access financial services as well as persons abroad who, for one reason or another, interact with our jurisdiction,” she said.

“This seminar is therefore one of the flagship initiatives to be utilised to promote an understanding and awareness of the level of cooperation required from our regulated entities as we strive to ensure that the federation maintains a high level of compliance and efficiency.”

This year’s seminar was held under the theme “Strengthening Our Financial Integrity; Safeguarding Our Financial Economy.”
