Health talks in Schools for Diabetes Week of Activities

ZIZ News — Activities in observance of World Diabetes Day 2019 officially began on Monday with health talks at high schools across the island.

The health talks, according to Public Relations Officer of the St. Kitts Diabetes Association Dr. Reginald O’Loughlin are a great way to sensitize young people about the disease.

He said the activities will continue Monday night with Healthwise on ZIZ Radio and Television where diabetes will be the topic of discussion.

To kick of the week of activities in celebration of World Diabetes Day 2019, the St. Kitts Diabetes Association worshipped at the Pro Cathedral of St. George on Sunday.

Dressed in blue, the association’s members were supported by officials from the Ministry of Health as well as nurses of the JNF Hospital.

Other activities for the week will include an awareness campaign, public and private health screenings, a diabetes awareness walk and an awards banquet to be held on Saturday at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel.
