(ZIZ News) — A call is being made for residents of St. Kitts and Nevis to significantly improve their diets and engage in some form of healthy activity.
World renowned Cardiologist, Dr. Arthur Agatston said this would help prevent heart disease in most cases.
Dr. Agatston, who was the Keynote speaker at Saturday’s Caribbean Wellness Day Lecture Series, said heart attack and strokes are ‘absolutely preventable.
Speaking with ZIZ News, he stressed the importance of early detection and regular checkups.
Dr. Agatston is also warning against the “sitting disease” which is a condition of prolonged sitting that affects body.
He said previous studies suggest that this can lead to heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers.
Dr. Agatston’s lecture on Saturday was centred around the topic, “Predicting and Reversing Cardiovascular Disease.”
