Hitters force Game 5 Skywalker saves the day

Player of the Game Marlon “Jah Love” Powell

Basketball City, St. Kitts (October 14th 2011):-The atmosphere at Basketball City could only be described as electric as game 4 of the exciting 2011 Rams Hitters vs Ghut Bucs SKABA Finals series took place in front of hundreds of fans.

Hitters entered the game with renewed vigour as overseas based player Marvin “Skywalker” Davis entered the line-up. Despite a horrid offensive night and fouling out late in the 4th quarter Davis gave the 19 time Champions Hitters the boost they needed against a hungry, exciting, talented Ghaut Bucs team.

Unlike Games 1 and 3 where Ghaut Bucs dominated from start to finish this game was much more keenly contested with both teams trading leads throughout.

Ghuat Bucs enjoyed a very slim 2 point 23-21 advantage at the end of the first quarter despite a huge output from Hitters forward David “Longman” Dowell who had 11 of Hitters 21 first quarter points. Bucs forward Kimo Liburd had 7 early points in the first quarter as well. The 2nd quarter was much of the same with both teams literally trading baskets and ending the quarter with each team scoring exactly 14 points to end the half with Ghuat Bucs on top 37-35.

Hitters began the 3rd quarter very confident, despite being down 2, behind the exceptional play of Marlon ‘Jah Love” Powell who scored nine 3rd quarter points to lead Hitters to a 26-21 3rd quarter advantage.

The final quarter began with Hitters enjoying a very slim 3 point advantage. Marlon “Jah Love” Powell continued his offensive onslaught and led Hitters with 7 fourth quarter points. Despite a huge 14 fourth quarter points from Dwight “Mac 11” Jacobs the Ghuat Bucs fell just short with Hitters holding on for dear life to a slim 84-81 victory.

Free throws definitely made the difference in the game as Ghuat Bucs converted only 5 of 20 while Hitters converted 21 of 34.

Despite leading the game in turnovers Marlon “Jah Love” Powell was still no doubt the key factor in the Hitters victory and was once again the player of the game with 22 points and 3 assists and 2 block shots. Team mates Ansel Revan and David Dowell had 22 and 17 points respectively with Dowell grabbing 11 rebounds.

Tamboura “Tambie” Caines had a Game High 9 assists to go with a team leading 22 points and 4 steals. Teammate Kimo Liburd had 17 points , 14 rebs while Dwight “Mac 11” Jacobs had 18 points and 14 rebs.

Game 5 takes place on Sunday with the winner taking home the 2011 SKABA Championship Trophy.
