HIV/AIDS Workshop Deemed Successful

HIVAidsFIlePhotoB[ZIZ]–Today, Saturday March 8th saw the end of a weeklong Voluntary Counseling and Testing Workshop that was sponsored by the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Alliance and held at Manhattan Gardens in Lime Kiln.

The HIV/AIDS workshop has heard presentations on sexuality, sexual orientation and sexual health by Lead Facilitator and Master Trainer, Joy Crawford and Nurse Eldina Farrell who is an advanced trainer.

Nurse Farrell told ZIZ News that persons deemed “Most at Risk” were the target groups for the workshop.

“Because we are trying to scale up the uptake, we’re trying to get more persons tested when we have community outreach so that we can really have a true picture of the HIV epidemic or situation in St. Kitts-Nevis. It’s necessary for us to include persons from outside the health institution.”

Despite the varied age range of the trainees, Nurse Farrell said their participation was necessary to ensure that accurate HIV/AIDS information is disseminated and recorded.

She also revealed that the trainees were residents of both St. Kitts and Nevis.
