Honouring The Elderly

ZIZ News — On Sunday morning the Christian Life Assembly Church teamed up with the Ministry Of Gender Affairs and Social Development, to celebrate older persons for the 60+ Counts Celebration, during a service ceremony.

According to the church, the goal was to honour and celebrate members and other persons from across St. Kitts, sixty years old and over.

Pastor Matthew McGuire said the ceremony also intended to promote awareness about the increased risk of old age inequalities, and ensure that we recognize the contributions that older persons have made to national development.

The service ceremony also included the presentation of gifts and awards to 19 celebrates over the age of 60 as will as five special honourees.

In his address to the congregation, Minister of Gender Affairs, the Hon Eugene Hamilton also noted that the Ministry of Gender Affairs is also participating in the service to mark the start of their 16-day campaign focusing on violence against women.

The campaign begins on November 25 and runs until International Human Rights Day, December 10.
