Hundreds Gathered for National Health Walk on Saturday

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 10

, 2019 (ZIZ News): Hundreds of health conscious residents and citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis walked the extra mile on Saturday August 10th to promote healthy living during a national health walk.

The national health walk which is designed to promote physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle began at 5 a.m. starting at the Caribbean Cinemas in Buckley’s.

Groups of fitness fanatics walked across the F.T Williams Highway and travelled to the Frigate Bay lawn for their cool down work out session where healthy treats, healthy snacks and fruit-infused water were provided.

Participants also used the opportunity to take selfies with Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris.

Dr. Harris said he was really impressed with the turnout and added that the Health Walk is evidence of backing talk with action.

Prime Minister Harris said he was pleased to see members of several national organizations like the St. Kitts Diabetes Association and the Police training group present at the walk and expressed that he wishes to see others joining the national movement.

Participant, Carla Astaphan said as a breast cancer survivor, health promoting initiatives such as the National Health Walk are always encouraging.

The national health walk comes on the heels of the launch of the newly introduced SKN moves initiative by the government of St. Kitts and Nevis which is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle through physical activity and healthy diet.
