Illegal Workers on Nevis Urged to Register With Relevant Authorities

Premier of Nevis Hon. Mark Brantley, is calling on persons working illegally, or under the radar, on the island to register with the relevant authorities.

Mr. Brantley made the call at his monthly press conference on Wednesday, while addressing the issue of employment on the island.

He said “I continue to beseech people to do the right thing to get their work permit if they are non-nationals, to register with social security because what you put in is what you get out and to ensure that they are on the rolls…

The premier said he believes in giving people every chance by demonstrating to them they are welcome to come to Nevis. However, they have to conform to the laws of the land.

Mr. Brantley stated that at present, the employment figures which have seen an increase of 4.9 percent in the second quarter of 2018 over that of the first quarter, may not reflect the true number of persons employed on the island.
