Castries, St Lucia — West Indies opener Devon Smith stroked his second straight half-century as Grenada made a measured reply against St Lucia, in their second round game in the Windward Islands Goodwill Series here Saturday.
Playing at the Beausejour Cricket Stadium, the flashy left-hander smashed six fours and a six before being run out for 55 as Grenada, responding to St Lucia’s 186, reached 98 for three at the close.
Leon George was on 21 not out.
Earlier, St Lucia were reeling on 90 for six after being sent in but a seventh wicket partnership of 69 between captain Craig Emmanuel and Larry Edward brought some respectability to the total.
Emmanuel hit a top score of 51 while Edward contributed 34.
Left-arm spinner Dennis George bagged three for 35 while fast bowler Nelon Pascal (2-28) and off-spinner Heron Campbell (2-29) picked up two wickets apiece.
At the Mindoo Philip Park, Dominica were making excellent headway in their contest against title-holders St Vincent and the Grenadines.
In reply to SVG’s 202, Dominica were 81 without loss with Jerlani Robinson top-scoring with 46 not out and Tyrone Theophile getting 35 not out.
Winning the toss and batting, the Vincentians were led by captain Lyndon James leading the way with 61 while Miles Bascombe supported with 35 and Gideon Pope, 31.
