PM Harris recognizes resident and visiting dignitaries during Toast to the Nation as part of St. Kitts and Nevis' 36th Anniversary of Independence

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 19, 2019 (ZIZ News): Following the ceremonial parade to commemorate the 36th anniversary of independence government officials, visiting diplomats, participating uniformed bodies and members of the general public made their way to the headquarters of the St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force at Camp Springfield for the Annual Independence Toast to the Nation and the Queen.

Delivering the toast Governor General His Excellency Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton GCMG CVO QC JP congratulated the uniformed bodies on their performance in the parade, particularly the Explorer Clubs.

During his presentation Prime Minister Dr. The Hon Timothy Harris announced that there was a tie for Best Armed Unit on parade: Police Force Unit Number 4 and Coast Guard Unit Number 3 were both adjudged the winners. Best Unarmed Unit went to Customs and Excise Unit

The Prime Minister also commended the Explorer Clubs for having the largest contingent at the parade.

Independence activities continued on Thursday evening with a cocktail reception at Government House hosted by the Governor General.
