Injunction Case Continues
ZIZ News–September 27 2013–The case to strike out the injunction against the proposed new boundaries continued today as the legal teams submitted formal arguments.
The lawyers appeared before the court last Friday.
As it stands the claimants, made up of members of the opposition have filed an injunction which is restraining the Governor General from finalizing the new boundaries that have been passed in parliament.
The lawyers for the government have filed a motion to set aside that injunction. That issue was heard before the court today.
The judge Darnesh Ramdani has reserved his decision until a later date.
If he rules to set aside the injunction then the Governor General can sign off on the new boundaries.
However, if not, then the case moves ahead to review the process that the boundaries commission used to determine the new boundaries.
