International Women’s Day Awards

(ZIZ News) — 15 women from St. Kitts and Nevis were awarded for their contribution to the Federation at a Breakfast and Awards Ceremony on Saturday.

The event, held at the Marriott Resort, was organized to mark International Women’s Day.

Among the dignitaries present were Minister of Gender Affairs, the Hon. Eugene Hamilton, Minister of State in that Ministry, the Hon. Wendy Phipps, and Junior Minister responsible for Social Development on Nevis, the Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams.

Donna Merritt was awarded for her achievements in Manufacturing; Clarice Cotton was honoured for Education; Azilla Clarke for Community Development; Talibah Byron for Law; Mavis Huggins was awarded with the title of Women Nurturer; Gloria Anslyn was honoured in the field of Business, Naomi Webster in Manufacturing, Roberta Rawlins in Business, Kerrecia Thomas in Construction and Tracy Parris for Community Development.

Two women were recognized as pioneers: Cyndie Demming for Politics; and Samantha Rochester for Non-Traditional Skills.

Other awardees were Claudette Clarke for Health Care, Dale Isaac for the Arts, and Jennifer Williams for Agriculture.

International Women’s Day is recognized annually on March 8.
