It’s Down To This

It’s down to the final three games of the Nevis Amateur Basketball Association 2014 local Basketball league.

But then again, depending on which team you speak to, they may well indicate that there are actually only two more matches left.

Tonight, Tuesday 17th June, the defending champions CG Rebels will take the court versus a team that has earned its place in the finals—The Bronx Crisis.

They have had some exciting encounters in the preliminary rounds and these final games—two or three, promise even more excitement.

When you look at the head to head, the CG Rebels maintain most of the core players who have helped them to reap success throughout the years but slowly and surely and for various reasons, it is obvious that it is a team in transition.

Bronx Crisis on the other hand, is indeed a team to watch and now boasts of a few players who previously played for the Rebels.

Their captain and veteran, the lion hearted Everson EV Webbe is expected to lead the charge. Not only because he too is a former stalwart Rebels player and would know his former team mates inside out, but because he is the stand out player in the team.

The Bronx Crisis men and their fans will be holding their breaths however, because he did not show up for the play offs, due to injury. Knowing the man though, it will take a lot more than a twisted ankle to keep him off the court tonight.

The Crisis team also has the services of another Rebels player in Al Stapleton who has also made a definite difference in the lead up to the best of three finals.

And don’t take your eyes off the dynamic Dwayne Warner. He is small but ‘he TALAWA!’ Always brave enough to attempt the three pointer from outside of the circle during crunch time…and most times, he is spot on.

And so, the battle lines are well and truly drawn. The action dunks off tonight at the Grell Hull-Stevens Netball Complex at 7.00 pm and the fans will not want to miss a single shot!
