Jamaica trounce T&T to win Super50

ST.GEORGE’S, Grenada – Thursday 15th August 2013– Jamaica trounced Trinidad and Tobago by seven wickets to win the West Indies Women Super 50 competition which climaxed on Wednesday at the Tanteen playing field in St.George’s.

Stefanie Taylor grabbed three wickets to knock the wind out of the Trinidad innings after they won the toss and decided to take first knock in a lopsided affair.

Taylor finished with leading figures of three for 13 and engineered a batting collapse as the losing finalist crumbled for 83 runs in 38 overs.

Only two batsmen got into double figures -Stacy Ann King caught and bowled Shanel Daley for 15 and captain Merissa Aguilleira 17.

Taylor’s efforts to contain their opponents were supported by Shanel Daley who picked up two wickets for 9 runs.

Solid innings from Natasha McLean and Chinelle Henry steered Jamaica to their victory target in 21.1 overs.
