JNF receives Medical Supplies and Equipment

ZIZ News — The Joseph N. France [JNF] General Hospital was on Wednesday the recipient of a container filled with medical supplies from the Antioch Baptist Church.

The Antioch Baptist Church through its fraternal church, the First Baptist Church of Texas and Direct Relief International, donated the 40-foot container of medical supplies to the Ministry of Health for use by the JNF Hospital.

Pastor Lincoln Connor represented the Antioch Baptist Church at the handing over ceremony and explained the reason for the donation.

He said, “It is in keeping with our basic philosophy and principal that man is an entire whole and not just a spiritual being and is also our way of demonstrating our involvement in the community and transcending the four walls of the church.”

The country’s health minister, the Hon. Marcella Liburd, expressed gratitude for the donation and said this partnership was longstanding.

“I recall that they were the ones that did the last painting of our Accident and Emergency Unit. We’ve also had some training done in dental work and other areas and so, it’s a growing partnership and we look forward to continuing this partnership in the best interest of the people of St. Kitts-Nevis,” she stated.

While Health Minister Liburd accepted the supplies on the government’s behalf, Medical Chief of Staff Dr. Cameron Wilkinson received it on behalf of the hospital.

In accepting the donation he said, “We just have the tip of the iceberg here to represent what was donated but we know that we have a vast array of drugs and equipment and this would go a long way in servicing anyone who access care here and when I say anyone, sometimes we forget that we’re not just talking about persons who live in St. Kitts but persons who come off the cruise ships, persons who are here for vacation and this is the only main hospital and so this needs to be our priority and we have to understand that we can’t depend on the government for everything and so I am very happy when I see persons partner with us.”

Wednesday’s handing over ceremony was held in the Administration Room of the JNF Hospital.
