ZIZ News…Dec 27 2010 – Thousands hit the streets for another street jam, Jouvert morning in St. Kitts described as one of the best in recent times.

Jouvert is one of the highlights of Carnival in St. Kitts and Nevis and the people really came out in their numbers to support their favorite bands and Jouvert troupes.

It was also the time for the bands to highlight their Road March songs as they competed for the 2010/11 Road March title. This year it was no easy task as all of the bands were sounding quite good with the Grand Masters trying to make it four in a row and the Soca Monarch King Konris also trying to take the title with Unstoppable Force.

Also looking to regain a title they won over the years was the Small Axe Band with one of their popular songs, the rum song and Nu Vybes who took over the streets of Basseterre with the largest crowd in the Jouvert Jam.

The Kollision band also held their own as they made their rounds to the judging points.

During an interview with ZIZ News the minister with responsibility for Carnival the Hon. Marcella Liburd was very excited over the fact that the participation level was very high as there were more Jouvert troupes than in the past years and the bands came out very early this year.

The Security Forces were out in their numbers and from all reports everything went quite well and there were no major incidents of violence in the bands.

Carnival lovers are now looking forward to next Monday when the Parade of troupes will be the next the street activity.
