Juveniles Wandering the Streets Intercepted by Police

Basseterre, St. Kitts — In keeping with the Force’s mandate of taking wandering children off the streets after 10:00 pm, the officer who is charged with this responsibility took two (2) unsupervised under- aged (under16 year of age) juveniles off the streets and took them to the Basseterre Police Station on Friday 13th June about 11:30 pm. The parents were summoned to the station where they were informed of the action taken by the police. The parents were informed of the law and advised that any future occurrence will result in their being taken before the court to correct this delinquency.

Commissioner CG Walwyn takes this opportunity to encourage parents to keep their unsupervised under-aged children off the streets after 10 pm.  A parent”s failure to comply with the law after the first warning by police can result in a mandatory court appearance.

The Attempted Murder trial involving Deshawn Leader of Main Street, St. Paul Village came to an end with His Lordship, Justice Darshan Ramdhani traversing the case to the September 2014 Assizes. This decision came about after a hung jury returned from deliberating on the facts of the case.

Shooting Incident leaves one person Hospitalised

The Violent Crime Unit (VCU) is currently investigating a shooting incident which occurred at Bird Rock on Saturday 14th June 2014 about 8:46 pm.  One person was hospitalised.

Initial investigation revealed that Patrick Weekes of Bird Rock was attacked by an unknown assailant. Anyone who has information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS). Remember, you do not have to provide your personal information, and you may be eligible to receive a reward.

Traffic Accident Resulted in one Person Transported to the Hospital

The Tabernacle Police Station is investigating a traffic accident which occurred on Saturday 14th June 2014 about 1:30 pm along the Island Main Road at Lodge Village in the vicinity of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church,  The accident resulted in one (1) person being transported to the hospital.

Initial investigations revealed that motor jeep P3504 owned and driven by Levi Tyson of Sarah Boury, Upper Cayon and motor jeep P9659 owned by Marvel Griffin of Half Way Tree and driven by Lorenzo Foster of Boyds Project were involved in the accident.
