Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 17, 2023 (ZIZ Newsroom): Local home care provider, Kare Nursing Agency recognized and celebrated caregivers during National Caregivers Day celebrated around the world on February 17th each year.
The agency held a brunch on Friday for caregivers at the St. Kitts Marriot Resort and also launched its Caregivers Association.
Owner of Kare Nursing Agency, Keisha Rawlins explained the rationale behind starting the association and for hosting the brunch.
She stated, “We found that this was a great initiative because we realized that caregivers, their voices are not heard and sometimes they’re overlooked and sometimes the nurses and other members of the team, so we decided to do something about it. Caregivers are very important in this federation and they go unnoticed because there are many caregivers in the home, family caregivers, friends, and loved ones. Some persons don’t get paid religiously, neighbors, and by extension from other family members. And so therefore, we want to recognize all caregivers possible, whether it’s a professional paid caregiver, or family, friend, loved one friend or neighbour.”
Rawlins also invited caregivers and nurses to join the association.
The National Care Givers Day ceremony was held under the theme “Celebrating the Persons Who Make a Difference Everyday”.
